Format: Physical book

Summary: This book follows the story of Evelyn Glennies, a Scottish girl who grew up loving music but one day her ears began to hurt, and she is told she has to wear hearing aids the rest of her life. Evelyn does not let that stop her and she continues to pursue music. As she plays the drums, she learns she can hear better without her hearing aids and just listens. The story follows her life as she becomes a successful musician eventually winning two Grammy Awards and having performed in more than forty countries.

Justification: I chose this book because I intrigued by the colorful cover. The beautiful illustrations made me curious about the book. I was also curious to learn about the story of Evelyn Glennies.

Evaluation: I will be evaluating the cover, illustrations, and the layout of the book.
The cover so beautiful and colorful. It shows Evelyn as a young girl playing a drum. The colors coming out of the drum showcase musical notes and different shapes. The title is centered at the top of the cover and easy to read along with the subtitle.

The illustrations are incredible. The illustrator used many warm tones throughout the pages making the story feel light. Each page is filled with details and the illustrator did an amazing job in turning sound into a visual as music comes out of the drums that Evelyn plays. The illustrations also show Evelyn as she grows up and becomes the woman she is today.

The layout of the book was very well done. The story flowed throughout the pages and complimented the illustrations very well. The fonts were easy to follow and read. As time passed in the book, the reader is able to recognize the time changing.
