Love & Lattes by Beth Reekles
Category: Young Adult Romance
Age group: Young Adult
Format: eBook
Summary: Love & Lattes, follows the story of a college student named Annalise. She receives an internship at a prestigious company in London. A few days before the start of the internship, Annalise kisses Lloyd, the son of the CEO of the company, without knowing. She later finds out who Lloyd really is and she must hide her feelings as she begins to fall for Llyod. She is there on business and must not get involved in any office drama if she wants to make a career for herself.
Justification: I will admit I chose this book based on the cute cover and title. I am fond of a good cup of coffee, and I was intrigued by the title. I also have heard of Beth Reekles before, but I had not yet read any of her books.
Evaluation: I will be evaluating the following, the plot, accuracy, and cover.
The plot was okay. I was not a fan of the romantic storyline, only because I felt like it lacked in some areas. Part of the book had me confused as there was so much back and forth between the main characters, and Annalise changed her mind so often, it was hard to enjoy the book. I also read this book in eBook format, personally I do not like eBooks, but I do think the experience may have changed just a little bit had I read the physical book.
This was the first young adult novel that I have read set in an office. Some parts can be relatable to young adults as some are graduating for college and taking on internships. Other parts were pretty unrealistic, but I think some things are just added to keep the book entertaining. You do see the typical office drama and gossip. It is not relatable for younger readers still in high school.
The cover as I mentioned was the reason I picked up the book in the first place. I think the cover is good, draws the attention of the reader and does not trick the reader into thinking the book is the opposite of the cover.
